Keepin’ It Clean Blog Hop, and a Blog Hop idea

So many fun Blog Hops lately! I decided to hop on (har har) Equestrian At Hart’s hop about the cleaning products we use. So she asked:

In this weeks blog hop lets talk about what cleaning products you use on your tack and why?

Now, I have to admit I don’t clean my tack too too often but when I do, it’s kinda like this:

clean-all-the-things

The hubs says I look exactly like this when I decide to clean the house too

Anyways, on recommendation from my saddle fitter, he recommended I use Effax Ledercombi to clean my saddle. I use Effax on my bridles too as its super easy to just do a quick swab over everything, if I remember to that is, after I ride. For really deep cleans on my bridles and such I’ll use castille soap.

As a conditioner I use either Oakwood Conditioner or Passier Liederbalsam though I prefer the Oakwood. The Passier isn’t as conditioning/moisturizing as I’d like it to be, doesn’t seem to soak in as well. The Oakwood really absorbs into the leather and has a nice finish. I think I might have to try the Higher Standards conditioner and tack cleaner though as I’ve heard great things.

I’d like to give a go at making my own tack soap using Bay with Chrome’s recipe! Gotta find me some bar glycerin soap…

Thanks EaH for the fun blog hop! 🙂

Actually, would anyone be interested in doing a Blog Hop about the other physical activities other than riding that you do to stay in shape? Or rather, the physical activities you do to stay in/get in riding shape?

I’ve seen a lot of posts with people talking about getting back into the gym or having more healthy habits so I thought this could be fun topic to share about. Could be a fun somewhat non-horsie Hop. What do you guys think?

I’ve been thinking for a while that it’d be good to have an “activities/hobbies outside of horses” hop. I know I’m not the only one that does another sport too.

I’d do an activities outside of horses hop, although not all of my activities are health/fitness oriented 😛

I would definitely be into doing a blog hop about non-equine fitness activities! (I am a terrible runner, for example.)

Hearing so many good things about the Passier conditioner…might need to try it!
