Now, That’s The Spot Blog Hop: What do you do outside of horses?

I had been thinking it would be fun to have a Blog Hop about what we riders do outside of horses. It had first started as “what other physical activities other than riding that you do to stay in shape” or something about ‘how you stay in/get in riding shape’ but then FB Pony suggested something more along the lines of hobbies and other activities in general. So props to FB Pony for helping shape this one. 🙂

So here we go!

What other activities, hobbies, or sports do you do outside of riding?

I’ll start us off with my other activities!

I love to cook, but I especially love to bake.

I don’t know when or how I got into baking or cooking, but I think it was when I started college. Anyways, I really enjoy baking and making food for people. I think part of it is an Asian thing as all the Asian people I know are constantly bringing food over to each others houses or trying to get people to eat more. I’ll call my parents at like 10:30pm and the first thing they ask is
“have you eaten yet?”. But, I digress. I’m probably better at baking and it seems that I’m pretty ok at it as evident in the people I’ve given the diabeetus to. 😛 Here are a few pics of my baking endeavors which I am perfectly happy in divulging the recipes to if any of you are interested.

I like to ride bikes

“I want to ride my bicycle
I want to ride my bike
I want to ride my bicycle
I want to ride it where I like!” -Queen: Bicycle Race

I got into cycling in college as most of my friends were on the collegiate cycling team. They were always going out on weekend rides, talking about their power output, how many miles they rode, how sharp their cycling kit tan lines were, and I decided that I wanted to join in on the fun as well. So, I got a bike

I got into mountain biking because of the Hubs so we do that on occasion as well. But mountain biking scares me a little. There’s trees, rocks, and shit and I’m worried I’ll eat it when coming around a corner or descending. I’m slowly getting less nervous about the whole thing though and slowly yet surely I’ll get there. For now I just scream bloody murder which Hubs things is hilarious and follow his lead through stuff. If I see him go first it makes me less hesitant. Anyways, our favorite lately though has been trail rides where Hubs on the MTB and I’m on Spot.

I’m a Cross-Fitter

sore2sore

I’m one of those people that needs to go workout so I do a pseudo Cross Fit like class. We do cross training with some weeks being Metabolic Conditioning (aka, lots of reps), Weights (dead lifting, squats etc), Gymnastics (lots of up down and body weight exercises), and Aerobic (aka: lots o running and stairs). Oh, and a ton of ab work which I’m finding to be very valuable when working on my sit trot. No pics of me cross fitting as I’m sure no one wants to see sweating a lake. 😛

I actually really suck at running…which makes having a goal of doing a triathlon next spring a little harder.

Haha, its ok! I too was like “Blog Hop? Huh? ~scratches head~” But basically its a topic someone posts up that other bloggers can respond to and share with others. It’s a great way to find new blogs to read. So, if you wanted to get in on this blog hop, write a post about the things you do outside of riding and add your link to the inLinkz. Then we can all read your response to the “hop”.

      Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
