There as been quite a bit of radio silence from me as we have been haphazardly organizing our move into our new home. But! We’re finally all in! We spent our first night in our new home and it was glorious!
Anyways, this isn’t much of a horsie post, but I promise there will be another Polo Explained post this week and a bit more blog action. š
I learned 3 important things this weekend about moving:
1. Hire a MoverĀ
It’s totally worth it, I promise. It’s great because you won’t hurt yourself moving the heavy as hell desks, super awkward to carry memory foam mattresses x2, giant ass L couch, and dressers the size of a mini cooper down a flight of stairs. They also know how to pack your 20 ft Uhaul truck within an inch of it’s life so all of your earthly goods fit in one load.
2. Remember to Eat and Drink
This seems like a very no brainer thing, but when in the rigors and excitement of moving I totally forgot to eat during the day. It’s not very fun when you suddenly feel dizzy carrying boxes down the stairs, which then you realize you haven’t had anything in the last 8 hours.
3. Overestimate The Number of Boxes and Amount of TimeĀ Needed
Before we started to pack up our things, the Hubs and I were like “oh, we don’t haveĀ thatĀ much stuff.” We were wrong. For two people we actually have quite a bit so it took a lot more packing materials and alot more time to pack than we had originally thought. So, get more boxes and make more time. What’s nice about getting boxes from Uhaul or Home Depot/Lowe’s is that they will let you return the boxes you don’t use.
Well, there you have it! Spot has had a few days off, but I’m sure she’s real upset about that. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to ride some more this week! I need my horsie fix and I miss this face:
Totally agree about hiring movers. I’ve moved a majillion times and once I actually sucked it up and hired a mover I realized how stupid I’d been all the other times trying to do it all myself.

Right?! Andy and I were like, “Zomg, why haven’t we ever used movers before?!” Totally worth the $.

I second Amanda, hiring a mover is the way to go! Especially when you’re moving halfway across the country, and then back…ask me how I know š

I LOVE TO PACK. But hate to unpack. Needless to say we’ve been in our house for over a year and there are still boxes….

I think I prefer to unpack…when we were packing I felt like I just kept packing but our amount of stuff to pack never got smaller. Packing Purgatory!!! x_x
